Day 6_to_10

Slovenia/Croatia/Serbia/Bulgary - June 2018

Today we’ll cross Croatia without stopping there (we where there also in our honeymoon) to arrive to Beograd in Serbia. It’s going to be another “Highway-day”, not the kind that excites us. But we want to hurry up so we can visit Beograd (first time there!) on the afternoon.

We are really curious about the capital of Serbia, we don’t have much time, but we’ll try to visit some highlights. The first thing that surprises us it’s that it’s full of life, there is young people everywhere! We can go to the center walking, so we visit the Republic square, the military museum, the Beograd fortress (the views of the city at sunset are stunning!), the Pobednik Statue, we get lost in the center (on purpose) and finally we have dinner in the Bohemian quarter like good tourists.

Next day we are going to meet a family’s friend! They are so kind, that they’ve invited us even before knowing us!

We have a short ride (just 1 hour and a half) in front of us, so we take a secondary road for a while. It’s a great idea, because this way we can see the rural life in Serbia. It’s Sunday so there are markets everywhere with a lots of fruits and vegetables (they look delicious!).

With any other delay we reach our friends Jovanna and Uroš family’s house. We feel at home from the minute one, we are overwhelmed with all this hospitality! We spend most of the day talking (sometimes in Spanish, sometimes in English, sometimes in German) and eating the wonderful typical meals that they prepare for us, everything it’s delicious!!! We didn’t know each other in person, but we can talk for hours about everything.

This young guy stole my heart:

As it couldn’t be in another way, we start the day with a delicious breakfast. It’s a pity that we have to leave! We feel so good that we want to stay more, but new tires are waiting for us in Sofia (Bulgaria), so we have to leave. Hvala for everything!

Before taking the highway we visit the Ravanica monastery (following our new friends recommendations). It’s an amazing place full of peace!

And then… sorry, another highway-day… I promise that this is gonna change when we arrive to Turkey!

We arrive to Sofia too late to go to the concessionaire, so we go to the hostel. What a surprise when we see that it’s like a young people hostel (they offer us a Pub Crawling tour). We are done, so we eat something fast and we go to sleep. We really need to rest, it was a looooong day!

NExt day we want to change the motorbike tires, so we go to the Triumph’s concessionaire. There, a kind man escorts us to the mechanic, that has our tires. We are afraid that we are going to spend there the whole day, but they say that they just need one hour. Tià has to help them to remove the wheels, because we have this case-supports and it’s a little bit complicated. They are friendly and they had a good English level, so we spend there a good time speaking while they work.

With the Bonnie’s new “shoes” we go to the new hotel (we didn’t want to spend another night at the hostel). It seems that Sofia is kind of cursed for us, when we want to visit it, it starts a big storm, and it keeps raining the whole afternoon. What a pity! It’s the second time we are here, and we cannot visit it properly (last year we where also here in Sofia, but we had an accident and we where both of us a little bit lame). Finally at night the rain stops, so we can go out. We see some typical dance performance in a park, and we really enjoy it; then we go to a typical restaurant, and we have dinner like kings!

Next day we decide to return to the mechanic because yesterday we felt a new vibration riding the bike. They receive us with a smile, and after around an hour and some tests it seems to be a combination between low pressure, and that we have to adapt to the new tires vibrations. So everything is fine!

Today we head to Burgas, on the coast. It’s the first time that we see the Black Sea, how exciting! We reach there after some boring highway hours. Burgas it’s a typical Bulgarian holidays city with its high apartment buildings. We go to explore the Sea Garden, it’s a beautiful park full of statues near the beach, after that we visit the beach (the sand is black at this part!).

We try to find a restaurant to eat something, but it’s too late and everything it’s closed! We are hungry so we ask at the hotel if they can make some sandwiches for us… luckily they accept!
