Day 221
Day 221
Let’s hit some records today! hottest day… ever?!?! It’s just morning and it’s even hard to breathe!!!
We are litterally in the hottest place in the world (at least this days).
We head to a information center in Mount Gambier, because there is a lot to see around (including koalas!!). This is what greet us at the entrance, some areas are closed because it is too hot! We learn that the animals are literally dying due to the heat. It’s just awful!
Anyway we visit the Blue Lake, and yes it is quite blue (I promise, no filters added):
It’s a crater lake located in a dormant volcan, and during December to March, the lake turns to a vibrant cobalt blue colour, returning to a colder steel grey the rest of the year. The exact cause of this phenomenon is still a matter of conjecture, but likely it involves the warming of the surface layers of the lake during the summer.
Next we enter to a huge planted forest until we find our next camp spot.
Chilling a bit…
