Day 239

Australia - February 2019

Day 239

Let’s explore a bit more this region as we drive to the North. We are in love with the empty endless beaches.

However, we can’t relax 100% in the beach… this is Australia so we have to be on guard. Tià sees something on the seashore that he doesn’t recognise, so he asks me what is it. Oh my… I haven’t seen that I was walking barefoot around Portuguese man o’ war!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! For the ones who doesn’t know what’s that… It’s similar to a jellyfish (sorry, the biologist has to write here, actually it’s a colonial organism made up of specialized individual animals NOT A JELLYFISH). And it is quite venomous with extremely painful stings.

If you ever see that… RUN!

After that, we had enough of this beach so we keep driving… to other beaches (but we will stay away from the sea)

In one of our 4W adventures today we get stranded. YAY!!!

It’s nothing, and we feel so safe with the car… when something happens to us and we just have the bike we really get nervous. But here, we have a home with wheels (and litres of water, and food)!!!

When we finally are free to go, we head to the Nerong Creek, which we thought we could cross with a small ship. However, we find it closed, so we have to drive one hour more to surround it.

Well, it’s not really traumatic. The road is quite nice!

We head to an elevated viewpoint to see better de Nerong inlet and it’s quite beautiful…

I love the road in our way down… it’s full of giant ferns, palms, huge eucalyptus, black and white cockatoos… That’s heaven on Earth!
