Day 92

India - September 2018

How peaceful it feels here! We are really happy to be in the mountains! It’s amazingly beautiful!

We start the day driving up to the the Spiti Valley, as Kaza it’s too far (200km) we’ll sleep in between in a camp site.

The landscape changes slowly but dramatically, now we understand why this region is called the cold desert! The road is quite difficult, we are happy to be here with a car and not with the Bonnie! That should have been too much for us, with it full charged. But we are astonished, we see locals with their bullets and hondas carrying 2 or 3 persons riding through impossible rocks and rivers!

Quick stop for lunch

We cross the first high pass, the Rohtang Pass (3978m)! It’s cold here! Then, we have to cross some dry rivers with loose big rocks

We arrive at our camp around 6 at afternoon, it’s quite cold in here! We didn’t know that we were going to sleep at around 4000m above sea level! As the generator is not working we’ll not have electricity today… neither hot water, but it’s fine! that’s part of the adventure!

We spend some time with Chaman and the camp owner. We have a nice stove, tea, whiskey… what else can we ask??
