Day 196_to_201
Bye bye Flores! We spend here a great time!!! We left with a nice feeling and amazed about what we have seen… the underwater life is just incredible here.
Waiting in the airport:
Yes, it has 3 gates and we wait all together. Nobody says nothing about our flight, but when it’s time to go nothing happens. We guess we’ll have some delay. After 2 hours we get into the plane; again it’s a really small one (we wonder if we’ll had to pedal to get it work). Some pics from the flight.

We reach Denpassar without problems and we get a car to Mario’s house. Even if he is not there he has invited us to stay as long as we want.
Next day we’ll just spend the day at Mario’s with Bulo.
It’s not a complet lazy day, as Maria is a great personal trainer she offers to do some work with us. And we end up like Bulo. Jut kidding! She has mercy!
At night we get out to have some party, it’s New Year’s Eve! We put our best clothes and we head out to the beach.
Maria and I try to pose as the influencers do… I think it’s not our thing.
It’s better if we just act normal…
We find a nice place to stay at least until midnight to celebrate.
Mario let us have for some days his van, so we’ll head north to explore the island and run away from Denpasar and all the tourists. We just have a little problem… we haven’t even left Mario’s street when we hit a sign with the side-mirror and yes… it’s broken. Mario is so nice to let us be at his home and use his van… and we break it!!! What a nice start for a road trip! However we should be benevolent with Tià, because it was tight and a superstressful situation. We had some tense moments til we get out of Denpasar, it’s jsut insane! the traffic remembers us India a lot. We are superhappy to not to be on the bike.
Ubud is just around 20 km awway from Denpasar, but we expect to spend some hours on the van to arrive there, and we are not wrong. On the way we stop to have lunch in a nice restaurant with views to the rice fields.
As the weather is not the nicer ever, we just take a short walk around Ubud and we stay at the hotel.
Next morning we’ll hang around Ubud, as it has a lot to visitas this nice hindu temples.
Then, we head out to the north of the island. When we see the silouette of a vulcanooooooooo!
Here there is less traffic:
We stop for lunch in a restaurant with some nice views to the jungle (but the food is bad and the portions way too small, I have a carbonised baby duck and Maria a chick).
Later, we stop by the Ulun Danu Bratan Temple. We have to pay to park and to enter… and it’s full of buses and tourists, so we have a bad feeling. It raining so, it’s not pleasant to walk around, but furthermore the temple feels and seems fake. Like it has been done just for tourists… However if you are creative with your shots you may get good ones for your instagram like this ones. (That seemed what everyone was just doing).
We continue our way to the mountains.
We arrive where it could be the nicest hotel of the trip… We are in the middle of the rainforest!
Next morning Maria and me have a walk around the town. It’s a short one but supernice! Everyone is greeting us with a smile… and the forest is so beautiful!
When Tià is ready, and after a delicious breakfast we take a road to the forest. Best decision ever!
Later we head to the Brahmavihara-Arama or Vihara Buddha Banjar temple, that’s a buddist one.
Next stop will be Lovina, a nice beach where in the early morning you may get to see some dolpihins.
The heat is so suffocating that we need to drink something… a nice fresh coconut! Then, we start heading back to Denpasar. We want to arrive there today because tomorrow we have a flight to catch!
That’s it! Til here our stay in Indonesia! Thanks Indonesia! it has been intense and beautiful.
Today Maria will fly back home and we’ll fly to Perth in Australia! We spend the day at “home”, we pack our belongings and we head to the airport. As usual it’s sad to say goosbye, I’m not good at it!
New adventures in a new continent coming folks!
