Day 204

Australia - January 2019

Day 204

Finally! We’ll get the campervan today! The first thing we’ll do is to drive direct to St Margaret River to visit our friends Robin and Pixie, do you remember them?! The amazing couple that we meet in the border between Georgia and Azerbaijan (Day 27 of the journey). We rode with them through Azerbaijan, we crossed together the Caspian sea trapped in a vessel for three days due to bad weather, we also rode through the desert in Kazahstan with them and they helped us in one of the hardest days of the trip, the day we had the accident in the desert (Day 39). I must say that sometimes something “magical” happens, and you connect almost instantly with someone, luckily that’s what happened with them. It’s true that when you are travelling on a bike and you find someone else doing the same you already have something in common (you are a bit crazy at least), but that doesn’t mean that you’ll be friends.

We learned a lot from them. We started riding before the sun rose to avoid the heat with them. They gave Tià some good tricks about how to drive off-road. And probably the most important thing, when others where blasting our small confidence saying that it was not duable with our bike (AKA “peanut-tank” for some people) they stayed with us saying that of course it was going to be hard but we were not alone. There is something about the day we fell that stays with us like marked with fire. Just after finding out that the road was even worst and longer than what we thought we were just freaking out, scared and hesitating. Trully thinking in turning back. Tià said to Robin that maybe he was not able to do it, and the answer was: -“Well, there is only one way to find that out…”- He put the helmet on and disapeared with the bike and Pixie did the same. Hell, that’s the kind of people we want to be with! We just went after them without thinking and leaving our fears behind. So yes, now we are keen to see them again. They had some bad time due to an accident in Pakistan and we want to know all the details.

After all the paperwork we get our 4W. Let’s hit the road again!

I know that’s obvious for someone from Australia but… there are eucalyptus everywhere!!!!!!!

We meet in a nice beach, we visit a winery and we spend until bed time just catching up.
