Day 126_to_131

Malaysia - October 2018

Today we’ll split the group! We spend the last month with Eloy and Lucy and now we will continue separately. They are going South, to Singapur, and we’ll head North, to Thailand. This is something hard about travelling, you meet lot of interesting people, you become friends. And then, you have to say goodbye. It’s sad.

I hope to meet you again on the road guys! Have good luck and drive safe on your world wide tour!

Wow I’m quite impressed with the Malaysian roads, those are the best roads we’ve seen in the last 3 months!!!!!! Today we’ll ride to Ipoh, and the way it’s easy. A lovely perfect without pot holes highway. I’m not going to say again that the highways are boring! Now I love them! It’s a extrange feeling to ride over 80 km/h for more than just few minutes… and the other drivers are following the rules!!!! Amazing!

We reach easily Ipoh. Those are the views from our hotel room:

Next day we’ll leave all the luggage at the hotel, and we’ll ride to Cameron Higlands. We can’t believe it, it’s like a dream! Perfect tarmac, we are almost alone on a twisty road riding through the jungle on the mountains, and the rain leave us alone!

Next day it’ll be another easy riding day through the highway, but as we are in the monzoon season…

As you can see it’s not a funny day. Tià has to drive slowly and carefully due to all the water on the road. We arrive a bit late to Georgetown, so we just go out to eat something and we come back to the hotel to rest. Tomorrow we’ll visit the city!

Our first stop will be the “Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi”, or “Khoo Kongsi” clan house for short. That’s one of the most distinctive Chinese clan association in Malaysia. It is well known worldwide for its extensive lineage that can be traced back 650 years ago, as well as its closely-knit and defensive congregation of buildings and a magnificent clanhouse.

Later we get lost in purpose on the streets of the city to appreciate its famous street art and markets.

Next morning we have to go to the Thai Embassy to apply for the visa. Actually with a Spanish passport we don’t need it, but as we are entering through a land border with our own motorbike it may be a bit problematic and, we’ll just get 2 weeks to visit the country.

If we go to the embassy we may apply for a longer visa (one or two months), and maybe the entrance will be easier with the bike. The process is easy, and it doesn’t take a lot of time.

Later we decide to go to the beach, I don’t even remember the last time we swimmed in the sea…

Next morning we have to deal with something before picking up our passport (hopefully with an approved Thai visa)… finding a hairdresser for Tià! Once this is successfully accomplished we take a taxi to the embassy. YESSS they granted us a visa for 3 months!

Next we’ll visit the old city of Georgetown.
